Improve Lead Quality
Give marketing and sales the same definition of a good lead.
Build a Shared Standard
Three definitions every campaign needs.
Define fit.
Document the industries, professional roles, organization characteristics, and other requirements that matter to your offering. Separate essential criteria from preferences that would unnecessarily restrict the audience.
Define the signal.
Be clear about what the prospect did and what that action establishes. Requesting a guide demonstrates interest in the resource; it does not automatically establish a project, budget, or purchase decision.
Define the next action.
Decide how the lead will be routed, who will respond, and what an appropriate first conversation should address.
Create a Useful Feedback Loop
Make sales feedback specific.
“Good” and “bad” are not enough to improve a campaign. Record whether a lead missed the agreed criteria, lacked an active need, could not be reached, or simply required a longer nurture process.
Those are different situations and may call for different changes.
